Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Sankshema Seva Sangam Mandir, Milk Booth Junction, Akkayyapalem, Visakhapatnam

Aum Sai Ram.

This is the sixth Temple on which i'm writing article that I visited during my 17th Pilgrimage to Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple at Visakhapatnam & Kakinada between 17th July 2013 till 26th July 2013.

This is the 5th temple to be visited at Visakhapatnam under the Pilgrimage Series for my Sai Photo Blog.

To see Complete List of Temples Visited under Pilgrimage Series Visit:

To see Complete List of Temples Visited during 17th Pilgrimage Visit:
17th Pilgrimage to Sai Baba Temple.

After visiting the Sri Sai Baba Dhyana Mandir at Ramakrishna Nagar, we headed towards yet another temple on Akkayyapalem Main Road. We drove back towards Jagga Rao Bridge & took a right turn towards the NH 5 Road Junction. As we proceeded further, this Small temple of Sri Sai Baba was seen towards the left side of the main road next to the Milk Booth Junction.

A very Small Road Side temple for Sri Shirdi Sai Baba was built below a huge Banyan tree & was inaugurated on Sri Rama Navami Day in April 1992. Usually Auto & Rickaw drivers were the one who used to perform Puja's in this temple.

As the years passed by & as the temple started gaining popularity, more & more Sai Devotees flocked towards this Sai Baba temple. The temple was Repaired & the Roof of the temple below the Tree was covered with Aluminium sheet so that the branches don't fall on top of the temple gopuram & on devotees.

A Gurusthan, Dwarakamai & Dhuni was installed in the space available to the left of the temple sanctum. During 2000, a Land was acquired on the street next to the temple with the intension of building a big temple. But the People who have been visiting the temple regularly opposed to the same idea of shifting the temple Premises.

So Dhyan Mandir cum Kitchen/Dining Hall was constructed & is opened to Public for Bhajans, Spiritual Discourses & During Anna Dhan programs on thursdays & other special Days. The temple kept on growing & in between there were issues within the group & one group split from this group & has built a temple with similar trust name further ahead on Akkayyapalem main road near to the NH 5 Junction.

Daily Sheerabishek & Weekly Pancha Mrutha Abhishekam is performed on thursdays to the main diety in the temple. Puja, Abhishek, Archana & Aarti are performed daily in the temple.

During Guru Pournima Day, 250kg Rice/ Anna Abhishek was performed to the 2ft Statue of Sri Sai Baba at the temple premises. Every thursday as many as 1000 Sai Devotees visit this temple & get the blessings of Sri Sai Baba.

Highlights of this Temple:
1. This temple is famous for its  250 Kgs Anna Abhishekam on Sai Baba's Marble Statue in the temple Sanctum during Guru Pournima Celebrations.

2. This Temple was inaugurated on Sri Rama Navami Day in Apr 1992 & a 2ft Marble Statue of Sri Sai Baba was installed in the temple Premises. Though the temple is small in size, it attracts lots of Sai Baba Devotees from Around Visakhapatnam, especially on Thursdays & Other Special Days as lot of good things have occured to devotees coming to have the Darshan of Sai Baba in this Road Side Temple.

Daily Sheerabishek & Weekly Pancha Mrutha Abhishekam is performed on thursdays to the main diety in the temple.

A Silver Simhasan has been installed around the statue of Sri Sai Baba. A Small Silver Statue of Sri Sai Baba used as Utsav Murthy, Bronze Statue of Sri Ganeshji & Black Stone of Shiva Lingam is also placed along side the Main Statue of Sri Sai Baba.

3. This Temple has a separate Dhyan Mandir in the road next to the temple. It is opened only on Thursdays & during other events & used as Dhyan Mandir & Dining Hall for Annadanam on Thursdays & other special Days.

Dhuni & Gurusthan has been installed towards the left side of the temple. Dhuni can be visible at the left side entrance of the temple premises.

As this temple has been built below a Huge Banyan tree, the Entire temple is covered with Aluminium Enclosure on top to avoid any branch of the tree falling on top of the temple or devotees.

4. Special Puja, Abhishek, Annadanam, Spiritual Programs, Bhajans & other rituals are conducted during Sankaranthi, Ugadi, Sri Ramanavami, Guru Poornima, Gokulashtami, Vijayadashmi - Sai Baba Punyathithi & Datta Jayanthi.

5. Sai Baba Bhajans are held on every thursdays after the Dhoop Aarti at the Dhyan Mandir. Annadanam is performed on every thursday after the Noon Aarti & upto 250 people are fed with meals.

6. Sai Palki Utsav is performed on Guru Pournima & Sai Punyathithi & the Palki is taken on a procession covering upto 15 kms in & around Akkayyapalem & Surrounding Area amidst the Chant of Sai Bhajans, Sai Namam & Dhool.

7. As Said earlier, the main event in this temple is the Annabishekam on the Statue of Sri Sai Baba. 250kgs of Rice is cooked & the cooked rice in poured on the statue of Sri Sai Baba & abhishek is performed with cooked rice.

After the Abhishek, this rice is used to prepare, Pongal, Jaggery Rice, Lemon Rice, Tamarind Rice, Masala Rice & Curd Rice & the Food is distributed to one & all Sai Devotees visiting the temple. Around 3000 Sai Devotees are fed with the prasad & the rice is even distributed to near by charity Homes.

I'm now sharing few Snaps of the Statue of Sri Sai Baba that has been installed in this temple Premises.
